BANG!!! I have never run so fast. I’ve passed Calais. PUFF PUFF!! I’m sweating and I am only up to the plantation.
“What is your name again?” said Mrs Kelly
“Isabella”, I replied as I jumped over the new obstacle, too tired to talk.
The second time I reached the plantation, I slowed down. My fast running turned in to a slow jog. My slow jog turned into a power walk. Then I started to walk. I was so tired. I got a stitch.
One and half laps to go.
Passed Saaya... Nearly finished... AHH! Saaya is catching up. Quick sprint, Isabella, before she catches up... too late! She has passed me.
As I go past Mrs Kelly and her daughter, they show me where to go because I have done my 4 laps. I ran through the rugby posts. I heard all my friends calling out my name. “Go Isabella!” they shouted as I ran past them.
MAN!!! I am so puffed. Four and a half laps finished! YAY!
“Umm... what place did I come?” I ask the lady at the table taking all the names of the runners.
“You came sixth” she replied busily.
All that work for nothing. Even fifth would have been better. Oh well, it’s better than last.
By Isabella.
“Bang!”
Every year 4 girl started running towards the trees. Lydia was by my side around the corner. Mrs Hays was encouraging us to do our best in cross country.
‘Ow!” I said as Lydia and I reached the netball court.
‘What’s wrong?” said Lydia.
“I have a really bad stitch and its close to my heart.”
“Catherine, why are you running with a jumper and a drink bottle?” called a voice. I stopped running and looked up. There, standing on my right, was Mr
Jenkins.
‘ I don't know”, I said.
‘Here, I will look after them for you.”
I gave my things to Mr Jenkins and kept on running.
“Oh no here come the year 4 boys time to pick up the pace” I said to myself. I was on my last lap and just before I was at the finish line...“Come on, Sis, you can do it.’ My sister had finally showed up with Trey. I ran as fast as I could to finish the race.

“Hey!” yelled a voice. I tried not to turn around. Finally, finished! Whaea, Hetaraka gave me a card with number ... 9
‘yipe”, I said . I came in top ten. I get to go to the movies! Lydia came number 10.
