Ecstatically my heart was beating like drums playing. As I ran down the sideline, I dived and one point went on to my team. It was one whau to Whau Valley. When that game finished it was three all.
We made it in to the knock out round. As the whistle blew, they tapped and passed. We easily turned it over. Now it was our turn to run easily Liam tapped and passed to me. I felt ecstatic that I had got the ball. I ran and danced to the side and then danced to the other side and then I passed the ball and felt good about myself that I didn't get ripped.
We were on our last rip.
“Liam!” I shouted. I got the ball and ran. I ran through their defence like a hot knife through butter. I was up to the last defender. Phoenix gassed up behind me. I passed the ball right before their fullback ripped me. Phoenix drummed up to me just in time. I passed to him right as the defender ripped me. Phoenix ran up the line.
“GO! GO!” YELLED MR JERKINS. There was no one in sight. He planted the ball right in the middle of the goal post.
The whistle blew and the ref said, “Try”. It was the other team’s ball. They did a high pass Drums was short but he still intercepted it and got a try. But sadly we were still one point behind. The buzzer was about to go. We tried as hard as we could until the buzzer went. The team were eating our lunch and the principal Mr Clark told us that we had made it into the knock out round. All of the team was amazed we got warmed up. If we win this, we will be able to go to the NORTHLAND game. We would have got free ice creams and what not. We had to win it but there were some really good people in the Kerikeri Primary School.
It was nil nil. They scored a try in the last few minutes. Whau Valley lost the game. When we left we still had our heads up. We pulled up outside the school with grins on our faces. But in a disappointing voice we said we lost but we were still proud of our selves.
